What is the purpose of a blow-off valve, and how does it work?
The blow-off valve is a turbo pressure/boost release valve that discharges pressure when the throttle is closed, preventing damage to the impeller bearings and extending the turbo's lifespan. It reduces turbo lag during acceleration.
Simoni Racing offers a wide range of blow-off valves, with important features worth highlighting:
- V-Band Flange: This flange ensures a secure and robust connection, essential for systems with high boost pressure.
- Included Components: The kit includes both the clamp and the weldable flange, offering a complete solution for installation.
- Designed for Compatibility: These valves are designed to fit standard silicone hoses, increasing versatility and facilitating integration with various piping systems.
- Simple Installation Version: Eliminates the need for welding, making installation more accessible for those without specialized equipment or welding skills.
Valve Supply
- Aluminum Flange: Facilitates welding connection to aluminum pipes, ensuring a secure and durable joint.
- High-Quality Components: Stainless steel clamps and inserts ensure corrosion resistance and long-lasting durability.
- Efficient Sealing: The use of an O-ring guarantees a simple and leak-free installation, optimizing system longevity.
- Stainless Steel Flange for Intake Pipes: Ideal for use with steel or stainless steel intake pipes, providing a solution for applications requiring more robust materials. Stainless steel offers excellent corrosion resistance and increased durability.
Which spring should I use for my vehicle?
To determine the correct spring, it is necessary to measure the engine vacuum at idle when the engine is warm and has reached its operating temperature.
The valve comes pre-installed with a configuration spring.
Typically, the 0.35-0.50 BAR spring is the most common and popular choice.
IMPORTANT
During valve installation, only use silicone hoses of the correct size and pressure/vacuum rating for your application. Ensure that all hydraulic hoses are secured with appropriate clamps and/or that the correct fittings are used. The valve must be mounted at least 100 mm away from any high heat source or be adequately shielded.
Identify a suitable location along the intercooler/intake piping for the valve: it should be positioned between the turbo outlet and the throttle body, ideally between the throttle body and the intercooler.
In any case, Simoni Racing recommends that installation and adjustment be carried out by qualified personnel.
