Spacers and Shims Widening the track of a car not only improves its aesthetic appearance, but most importantly, it enhances stability and road holding, becoming an integral part of the technical solutions that Simoni Racing offers to make the car's setup sporty, precise, and safe. Simoni Racing spacers are produced only with quality materials (Ergal 7075-O or Ergal 7075-T6) and undergo an anti-oxidation treatment. By using the aluminum spacer and specific hardware, you can give your car the appearance and qualities of a true race car. What are spacers? Spacers are shims that are mounted between the hub and wheel, making the wheels protrude more outward. This modification gives the car a sportier look, as well as increasing its cornering grip and overall stability. Spacers are available in various sizes, starting from 5mm up to 30mm (which are predominantly mounted on off-road vehicles and Pick-Ups). How to Choose the Right Size Position the car on a flat surface. Measure the available space between the fender and the tire shoulder of all four wheels. Keep a few millimeters of gap between the fender and the tire shoulder. Check the type of bolt pattern on the wheels. Check the wheel hub diameter. Verify the hub flange depth. Check if the original bolts have a conical or spherical head. Wow Effect The final effect varies depending on the size you choose. The goal of spacers is to widen the vehicle's track. They also function to eliminate contact between brake calipers, wheels, and suspensions or arms. What material are they made of? In most cases, these disks are made of aluminum, in this specific case: Ergal 7075-O or Ergal 7075-T6 and are subjected to anti-oxidation treatment. Application List Spacers are NOT universal, hence they have a long application list. Paying utmost attention at the time of purchase is therefore a key point for correct installation. How Do I Know If They Are Not the Right Size? Mistakes can be made during purchase. How we notice them: - The spacer does not fit into the wheel hub - the spacer does not seat properly, thus risking tearing of the central collar. If the installation is not done correctly, it is strictly forbidden to drive on the road. But Doesn’t It Damage the Car? Contrary to what is often said, car spacers do not alter the geometry of the suspensions, do not compromise the wheel balancing, and do not change the turning radius. Purchasing the right car spacers for your vehicle is crucial to making this modification with peace of mind. How to Install a Spacer Park the car on a flat surface, place the jack under any of the four points, and lift the car. Remove the wheel. Clean the wheel hub with sandpaper and cleaners like brake cleaner or degreaser. Install the spacer, positioning it on the hub, aligning the holes with the hub holes. Place the wheel on the spacer and secure it with the bolts included in the kit. Repeat the above steps on the other three wheels.
